About Government Property 2013

Thursday 7th February 2013, Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester

The Government Property 2013 conference will be the tenth in an unbroken series of similar events that started in 2004. Generally acknowledged as the premier gathering of public sector property professionals and their private sector solution providers and advisors, this year’s conference will keep all of the positive aspects developed over the years but will be different in a number of ways.

Firstly, the conference will for the first time be aimed at the whole of the United Kingdom and not just England, as has previously been the case. Many organisations from each country have already signalled their keenness to be involved by supplying speakers and we can already confirm a high profile presence from –

The Strategic Investment Board (Northern Ireland)

Belfast City Council

Scottish Futures Trust

The new, single Scottish Police Force

Welsh Government

Government Property Unit

Brighton and Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust

Secondly, we have changed the format for the plenary session to make it much more open and participatory. Rather than have a chairman introducing four speakers who will each speak for fifteen or twenty minutes on a given topic, we will have a panel of 8 individuals representing all parts of the public sector and from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England. The chairman will have a number of key questions which he will put to the panel for their views and he will also involve the delegate audience by asking for their views and questions.

Thirdly, in response to delegate requests and to reflect the focus the conference will have on collaborative, cross-border activity we have moved the conference out of London and into a great venue in Manchester, the Royal Northern College of Music.

We look forward to meeting many old friends once again and also to welcoming those who are joining us for the first time.
